The 9-11 Memorial Park opened Memorial Day 2013. A concrete marquee engraved with names of those who gave their lives and service in the military is placed alongside the 9-11 Twin Tower's steel beam artifact.
The 9-11 Memorial Park is located on the south side of Pima Street between the Gila Bend Courthouse and the historic Stout Hotel.
Approximately 2,100 pavers are available for purchase and cost $75 to cover the price of the engraving process. The Town is currently offering a 2-for-1 deal whereby a second paver will be engraved with a name of a Gila Bend veteran. Any individual or business interested in purchasing a paver may contact the town at 928.683.2255 for information.
Gila Bend is one of a few Arizona cities that was granted a metal beam section salvaged from the New York Twin Towers Ground Zero site following the 9-11 attack in 2001.
The 4,000 pound steel beam permanently rests in a park the Town built especially for this historic artifact. Visitors traveling through town are encouraged to stop and look at the steel beam that represents a devastating historic event that occurred in our nation
Memorial services are held every September 11th at the park (9 am). Everyone is welcome.
